ABA Routing Number
A 9-digit code assigned by the American Bankers Association to identify US financial institutions.
Also called a routing transit number (RTN), it was developed in 1910 to facilitate check sorting and processing. Today it is used for ACH transfers, wire transfers, and direct deposits.

ACH Routing
The routing number used for Automated Clearing House electronic transfers.
ACH routing numbers are used for direct deposits, bill payments, and bank-to-bank transfers. They may differ from wire routing numbers at the same bank.

Wire Transfer Routing
The routing number used specifically for domestic wire transfers.
Wire transfers are processed differently than ACH and may use a separate routing number. Always confirm the correct routing number for wire transfers with your bank.
